Cherry Blossom Festival 2006

Cherry Blossom Festival 2006 After consecutive 60-80+ hour work weeks (with more to come), it was a blessing to get away from the office to enjoy awesome weather and take some pictures at the Cherry Blossom Festival! It was kinda weird actually being able to enjoy the festival instead of volunteering like I usually did though. =)

It's sad to hear that good old J-town may no longer be around... especially on its 100th year anniversary!

It all started with losing the J-town bowling center, I'm telling ya! =/

Ride of a Lifetime

I had just passed a major collision (both cars were completely totalled) which slowed down rush hour traffic on rain-slicked Highway 92W to a crawl when it happened.

I was driving up a straight stretch of the highway when my car inexplicably spun out of control. I spun out from one end of the highway to the other and back again before flying backwards for about 100 to 200 feet along a hill on the side of the highway! I ran over some sign which thankfully gave way - if it was solidly planted in the ground, it would have been game over for me... I finally came to a stop with my car at about a 60 degree angle to the highway facing backwards.

My first thought after I stopped: "Thank God I'm alive!!!"

While checking to make sure that I hadn't lost any limbs or anything, some guys who stopped came up to check if I was OK. They both remarked: "Yeah, it was the craziest thing! I was behind you... you were going straight when your car just started spinning all over the place!"

Not only had I survived the accident without a scratch, but after the guys helped push my car off the hill, we noticed the second "miracle:" my car was relatively unharmed! I had a flat tire and some alignment problems, but considering the speed and impact I made with the hill, it could have been so much worse... especially in light of the major crash just a few hundred feet behind us (well... in front of me, in this case)!

I'm not sure what caused the accident, but I give all praise and thanks to God for protecting me! If the impact had been a little harder, I could have been seriously injured... my car was close to flipping over on the hill... if it wasn't for the other accident earlier, my spin-out would definitely have hit other cars and caused a major accident!

Father God, you are so good to me!

...Oh, and not that I'd want to go through the experience again, but I gotta admit... that whole driving experience was really freaking sweet! I tried to contain my grin while the guys were checking on me... I am such an adrenaline junkie, haha.
