Unexpected Circumstances

I just found out that I will be promoted to technical lead for our biggest business unit...

It still hasn't quite sunk in yet, as I never imagined that I would be in this position. I expected a promotion to senior developer, but this is completely different. I would essentially be managing a team of about 20 developers and QA engineers in the US and India, and be responsible for daily operations, reviews, raises, and career management.

Quite honestly, I feel a little overwhelmed as I have no experience managing others. Sure, I've served in various leadership positions in Alpha Phi Omega and am currently serving as a leader for my fellowship group (which a friend suggested was actually harder in many respects than this new position)... but dude, this is crazy! =)

I feel quite humbled that so many of my peers and managers think of me so highly... and I know a lot of work needs to be done as we define new processes and responsibilities, as well as identify our challenges and targets.

But at the core of all these whirlwind changes, I give all praise and glory to God! I know that God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others... so I will continue praying for peace, wisdom (LOTS of it!), humility and discernment as I grow and learn how best to glorify God in this new position.

Thank you Lord... your love and blessings truly humble me! =)
